ACT Testing this Week - Only Juniors Report to School and all other students are online

Dear East Troy High School Families,

The students and staff at East Troy High School have begun preparing for the ACT, PreACT Secure, and Wisconsin Forward Exam. We ask that you make every attempt to ensure your child is present on these testing dates. The testing schedule is as follows:

March 12 - ACT for Juniors Only - all other students will not report to school and will have asynchronous classwork on Google Classroom. Juniors will be dismissed after the testing (approximately noon). Busing will run as normal, the library will be available for those who'd prefer to stay at school, and lunch will be served.

March 17 - PreACT Secure for Sophomores & Freshmen - all other students will not report to school and will have asynchronous on Google Classroom. Freshmen and Sophomores will be dismissed after testing. Bussing will run as normal, and the library will be available for students who wish to remain at school. Lunch will be served.

Wisconsin Forward Exam for Sophomores Only - April 8th & 9th during extended Resource class - all students report to school.

All assessments require in-person attendance at East Troy High School. In-person assessment is the only viable method for state assessments. The company that produces the tests currently has no remote (virtual) testing options available. Proctored, on-site testing ensures standardized administration that includes equitable access to technology and optimal testing environments, test security, and validity.

Individual student results for the ACT and PreACT Secure are typically released in May and Forward results are released to parents typically in August.

If you have further questions, please contact Stacey Kuehn at kuesta@easttroy.k12.wi.us or 642-6760 ext 5240.

The Great Paper Roller Coaster Challenge

At the end of the trimester, students' complete projects and assessment that utilize the skills they learned throughout the trimester.

For the trimester 2 final project in physics, students use their building and math skills to first build a roller coaster to the correct specifications and then analyze their coasters using their skills developed during the trimester. Along with the fun of building a themed coaster, students mathematically analyzed the kinematics, forces, energy, and cost associated with the activity. This year's students proved to be exceptional builders and showed a lot of creativity.

Be Informed - ETCSD Operational Referendum on April 7

Referendum Flyer

Operational Referendum - April 7

Those who live in the East Troy Community School District will be asked on April 7 to vote on a referendum that would allow the district to exceed the revenue limit by $4 million per year for three years for operational expenses. As families invested in the East Troy Community Schools, we want you to be informed of the possible implications of this referendum.

If the referendum were to be approved by voters on April 7, East Troy High School will be able to maintain staffing and programming, ensuring our students continue to receive the supports and services that has lead to:
  • Over 40 Youth Apprentices, who are gaining real-world work experience in a variety of trades and pathways.
  • Over 80% of students taking AP exams earning a 3 or higher and leading to college credit.
  • The highest state report card score in the Rock Valley Conference.
  • 25 Transcripted Credit classes that earn ETHS students transferable college credit for free.
  • Athletic opportunities and achievement including two conference championship titles, 11 individual athletes qualifying for state in their respective sports–including a state champion wrestler, and the wrestling team advanced to the team state meet in this year alone.

If the referendum is not approved by voters, the district anticipates reducing approximately 25 full-time equivalent positions in addition to other reductions. At East Troy High School, this will mean:
  • Reduced electives and offerings (Advanced Placement, Transcripted Credit, Career and Technical Education, Art, Music)
  • Reduced capacity to meet student needs in pupil services and intervention
  • Increased scheduling conflicts for students due to reductions in staff
  • Outdated curriculum materials

Please visit the East Troy School District website to review facts and stay informed, and please vote on April 7th.

If you'd like an informational yard sign, please contact the main office at 642-6760.
