Act 42 - No Phones during Instructional Time

The East Troy School District Board of Education has a student policy regarding student use of information technology, communication resources, and Wireless Communication Devices.  This policy allows wireless technology to be utilized throughout our district during non instructional time and allows East Troy High School students to bring and use personal electronic devices outside of instructional time. Instructional time is defined as the moment the bell starts class until the bell ends it. Wireless Communication Devices (cell phones, tablets, non-approved laptops, and portable gaming devices). Students must refrain from using such devices during instructional time.  These devices can cause a disruption to the learning of a student and others around them.  If a student is on a WCD during class the following will occur:

  1. The device will be confiscated by the classroom teacher and turned in to the office
  2. A parent or guardian will be notified and expected to pick up the device by the end of that school day
  3. On the second offense, the device is again confiscated by the classroom teacher, and student serves two detentions
  4. Ongoing violations of the technology policy will result in increased discipline, including but not limited to:  turning the phone into the office daily and and other measures including searches, and could potentially result in out-of-school suspension.

Lockers available upon request!

Lockers will be available to students during the 2026-2027 school year upon request. Because many students choose not to use a locker, we are assigning lockers only to those who need one. Stop by the main office with any questions!

Lockers will be available to students who request them.

🎓 Exploring College Opportunities! 🎓

On Thursday, a group of AVID students and other ETHS students traveled to Delavan for a College Fair! The students had meaningful conversations with admissions representatives and advisors from a variety of colleges and universities.

They gathered valuable information about programs, opportunities, and what different colleges have to offer. Even better, they brought that information back with them, sharing their findings with teachers and classmates.

We love seeing our students take initiative, ask questions, and explore their options for life after high school!

Exuding Confidence in Speech

In Speech the students learned about the importance of body language when talking to a group in order to exude confidence. Students practiced their posture and poise by walking with books on their heads and by participating in different stretching exercises. With this activity, students learned that to be an effective speaker they cannot just think about what they will say, but they must also think about how they present themselves when they say it.

Real-life Practice in Forestry

Our ETHS Forestry class management efforts continued today with a full schedule focused on invasive species control, hazard mitigation, and tactical land stewardship.

The day’s primary tasks centered on clearing invasive common buckthorn and multiflora rose, two persistent species that crowd out native flora and hinder natural forest regeneration. Crews worked through dense brush to cut and treat the aggressive understory growth, clearing space for native species to thrive.

In addition to invasive management, crews executed a precision tree removal involving a hazardous box elder tree. To direct the fall and protect surrounding high-value timber, arborists used a throw ball line to hoist and secure a heavy-duty 3/4-inch pull rope high into the box elder’s upper canopy. Tension was applied to safely pull the tree clear of neighboring cherry and oak trees, dropping it cleanly into the designated target zone without damaging the surrounding canopy.

Once on the ground, the team transitioned to cleanup, bucking the box elder into manageable logs for utilization and piling the remaining brush to clear the site.

All in a day's work in Forestry class!
